My name is Tim Lounibos and I hope you can help me. I am an actor. On Tuesday, Oct. 5, I'll be guest starring on a television show called "JAG" (CBS, 8:00 P.M., pacific standard time). The role I play is that of prosecuting JAG attorney, Lt. Peter Yuen. As an Asian American actor, I rarely get the opportunity to play roles like this one. Due to various circumstances--the producers really liked what I did, the whole issue of lack of diversity on primetime network shows, the fact that this role could easily be made into a recurring or regular cast member--I'd
like to start up a grass roots e-mail/letter campaign to bring back my character onto "JAG." However, I don't want people blindly writing in. To network executives and producers, a letter is worth 10,000 opinions (they feel that 10,000 people are thinking the same thing but only one person is taking the time
to send in a letter). So I'm asking you to please forward this e-mail to all your friends and relatives and colleagues, asking them to watch or tape this Tuesday's episode of "JAG" (episode is "True Calling"). If they like my character--and only if they like it--I'm asking them to please write in
to the studio, network and production company to let them know. According to a friend of mine who is an executive at a major studio, they do pay attention to these letters. Due to the nature of the role, this is a very real opportunity to add a strong non-stereotypical Asian American character to the television landscape. -- TL |
